Blue Shield of California Hear Me
Blue Shield of California Hear Me
1 in 2 women's health concerns go unheard. They’re often told they're overreacting or “it’s all in your head”. 83% of women with chronic pain have experienced gender discrimination while seeking medical attention. Women in need of pain medication wait up to 16 minutes longer than men in the ER. And it doesn't stop there. Gender bias in healthcare is furthered by racism, ageism, sizeism, and more.
We partnered with Venus Williams—who saw doctors for 7 years before having her Sjögren's syndrome diagnosed, and 6 other women with bias-related stories of their own—and launched the #HearMe campaign to end gender bias in the healthcare industry. This project features amazing women, and was proudly made by amazing women.
